For this episode I sat down to talk with Mr. Robert Ratcliffe, Director of Technology for FCPS. I do not usually listen to my podcast once their recorded because I immediately know what I am going to pull from the conversation to blog about that will connect listeners and of course summarize. I actually listened to this one because so much was covered and because as you will notice, there is more casual banter in this episode- I was trying to push Mr. Ratcliffe to not talk like everyone else in our division.
Which brings me to the point of summation for this podcast. Take a listen! This episode really drives home two major points: 1. In order for a division to be successful it must have a collaborative, one voice. 2. In order for a division to be successful you must build up leaders within that division. One cannot lead by themselves. If collaboration and communication take place, then creativity, trust and community can be built.
Lastly, take note throughout the first part of the interview. Though Mr. Ratcliffe is the Director of Technology he has some really good points about technology's influence on daily life, creativity, communication, and collaboration. They are definitely worth listening to and not what you would think from someone whose job revolves around putting technology in students and teachers hands, which makes for the even more enlightening, refreshing listen.
